तब सीता को देखकर राजा उन्हें पाने की अभिलाषा करने लगे। वे क्रूर, कुपुत्र और मूर्ख राजा मन में क्रोधित हुए।

Then, seeing Sita, the kings desired to win her. Those cruel, unworthy, foolish men grew angry at heart.

वे अभागे राजा उठ-उठकर कवच पहनने लगे और जहाँ-तहाँ डींगें हाँकने लगे।

Those ill-fated kings rose one after another, put on armor, and began boasting here and there.

कोई कहता है, ‘सीता को छीन लो! दोनों राजकुमारों को पकड़कर बाँध दो!’

Someone says, “Snatch Sita away! Seize and bind both princes!”

‘धनुष तोड़ देने से ही अभिलाषा पूरी नहीं होगी। हमारे जीते-जी राजकुमारी को कौन ब्याह सकता है?’

“Merely breaking the bow will not fulfill that desire. Who can marry the princess while we are still alive?”

‘यदि विदेहराज जनक कुछ सहायता करें, तो दोनों भाइयों सहित उन्हें भी युद्ध में जीत लो!’

“If King Janaka of Videha offers any help, defeat him in battle along with both brothers!”

यह बात सुनकर सज्जन राजा बोले, ‘इस राजसभा को देखकर लज्जा भी लजा गई है।’

Hearing these words, the honorable kings said, “Even shame itself is ashamed of this assembly of kings.”
