सीता की शोभा सुंदरता को भी सुंदर बनाती है; मानो सौंदर्य के भवन में दीपक की लौ जल रही हो।

Sita’s beauty makes beauty itself beautiful; it is as though a lamp flame burns in the house of loveliness.

कवियों ने सभी उपमाएँ पहले ही इस्तेमाल करके जूठी कर दी हैं; मैं विदेह की राजकुमारी सीता की तुलना किससे करूँ?

Poets have already used up and made stale every comparison; with what can I compare Sita, the princess of Videha?

सीता की शोभा का मन में वर्णन करके और अपनी दशा पर विचार करके प्रभु राम—

Having described Sita’s beauty inwardly and considered his own state, Lord Rama—

—पवित्र मन से अपने छोटे भाई लक्ष्मण को अवसर के अनुरूप वचन बोले।

—with a pure mind, spoke words fitting the occasion to his younger brother Lakshmana.
