लक्ष्मण के हृदय में विशेष लालसा थी कि जनकपुर जाकर उसे देख आएँ।

Lakshmana deeply wished to go and see Janakpur, then return.

प्रभु राम के भय और मुनि के प्रति संकोच से लक्ष्मण खुलकर नहीं कहते; मन ही मन मुसकराते हैं।

Out of apprehension before Lord Rama and diffidence toward the sage, Lakshmana does not speak openly but smiles inwardly.

राम ने छोटे भाई के मन की इच्छा जान ली; उनके हृदय में भक्तों के प्रति वात्सल्य उमड़ उठा।

Rama understood his younger brother’s wish, and tender affection for his devotees welled up in his heart.

अत्यंत विनम्र राम संकोचपूर्वक मुसकराए और गुरु की अनुमति पाकर बोले।

With great humility, Rama smiled diffidently and spoke after receiving his teacher’s permission.

हे नाथ, लक्ष्मण नगर देखना चाहते हैं, पर आपके प्रति संकोच और भय से खुलकर नहीं कहते।

Master, Lakshmana wishes to see the city, but diffidence and apprehension before you keep him from saying so openly.

यदि मुझे आपकी आज्ञा मिले, तो मैं उन्हें नगर दिखाकर तुरंत वापस ले आऊँ।

If I receive your permission, I will show him the city and bring him back at once.
