कुछ दिन इस प्रकार बीत गए कि दिन और रात के बीतने का पता ही नहीं चलता था।

Some days passed in this manner, without anyone noticing the passage of day and night.

नामकरण का अवसर जानकर राजा दशरथ ने ज्ञानी मुनि वसिष्ठ को बुलवा भेजा।

Recognizing that it was time for the naming ceremony, King Dasharatha sent for the wise sage Vasishtha.

पूजा करके राजा ने ऐसा कहा: ‘हे मुनि, विचार करके जो नाम आपने चुने हों, वे रखिए।’

After worshipping the sage, the king said, ‘Sage, bestow the names you have chosen after due consideration.’

मुनि ने कहा: ‘हे राजन्, इनके अनेक अनुपम नाम हैं; मैं अपनी समझ के अनुसार कहूँगा।’

The sage said, ‘O king, they have many incomparable names; I shall name them according to my own understanding.’

जो आनंद के समुद्र और सुख की राशि हैं, जिनकी एक बूँद से तीनों लोक सुख से तृप्त होते हैं—

He who is an ocean of bliss and a treasury of happiness, a single drop of whose bliss satisfies the three worlds—

वे सुख के धाम हैं; उनका नाम ‘राम’ है, जो समस्त लोकों को विश्राम देने वाला है।

He is the abode of happiness; his name is Rama, a name that grants repose to all the worlds.
