मधु अर्थात् चैत्र मास की पवित्र नवमी तिथि थी; शुक्ल पक्ष था और हरि को प्रिय अभिजित मुहूर्त था।

It was the sacred ninth lunar day of Madhu, the month of Chaitra, in the bright fortnight, at the Abhijit time dear to Hari.

मध्याह्न था; न अधिक ठंड थी, न अधिक गरमी। वह पवित्र समय संसार को विश्राम देने वाला था।

It was midday, with neither excessive cold nor excessive heat—a sacred time bringing repose to the world.

शीतल, मंद और सुगंधित हवा बह रही थी। देवता हर्षित थे और संतों के मन में उमंग थी।

A cool, gentle, fragrant breeze was blowing. The gods rejoiced, and the saints' hearts were filled with delight.

वन फूलों से खिले थे, पर्वत मणियों से सुशोभित थे और सभी नदियाँ अमृत-सी धाराएँ बहा रही थीं।

The forests were in bloom, the mountains adorned with gems, and all the rivers flowed with nectar-like streams.

जब ब्रह्मा ने उस अवसर को जाना, तब सभी देवता अपने विमान तैयार करके चल पड़े।

When Brahma recognized that occasion, all the gods prepared their celestial vehicles and set out.

निर्मल आकाश देवताओं के समूहों से भर गया था; गंधर्वों के दल प्रभु के गुण गा रहे थे।

The clear sky was filled with groups of gods, and companies of celestial musicians sang the Lord's virtues.
