जैसी नागों का निवास भोगावती है और जैसी इंद्र का निवास अमरावती है—

Like Bhogavati, the abode of the serpent clans, and like Amaravati, the abode of Indra—

वह उन दोनों से अधिक रमणीय और अत्यंत भव्य थी। उसका नाम लंका संसार में प्रसिद्ध था।

It was lovelier than both of those and exceedingly splendid. Its name, Lanka, was renowned throughout the world.

अत्यंत गहरा समुद्र खाई की तरह उसके चारों ओर घेरा बनाता था।

The exceedingly deep ocean encircled it on all four sides like a moat.

उसका सुदृढ़ परकोटा सोने का और मणियों से जड़ा था; उसकी बनावट का वर्णन नहीं किया जा सकता।

Its strong rampart was golden and studded with gems; its workmanship was beyond description.

हरि की प्रेरणा से जिस कल्प में जो भी राक्षसों का राजा होता है—

Whoever becomes king of the demons in any cosmic age through Hari's prompting—

वही वीर, प्रतापी और अतुल बल वाला राजा अपनी सेना सहित वहाँ रहता है।

That same valiant, mighty king of incomparable strength dwells there with his army.
