हे मुनि, सुनिए! समय आने पर वही राजा अपने समाज सहित राक्षस हुआ।

Listen, O sage: in due course, that same king became a demon along with his company.

उसके दस सिर और बीस भुजाएँ थीं; उसका नाम रावण था और वह अत्यंत बलवान वीर था।

He had ten heads and twenty mighty arms; named Ravana, he was an exceedingly powerful warrior.

राजा का छोटा भाई, जिसका नाम अरिमर्दन था, वही बल के धाम कुंभकर्ण के रूप में जन्मा।

The king’s younger brother, named Arimardana, became Kumbhakarna, an embodiment of strength.

धरमरुचि नाम का जो उसका मंत्री था, वह उसका दूसरी माता से जन्मा छोटा भाई हुआ।

His minister, named Dharmaruchi, became his younger half-brother, born of a different mother.

संसार उसे विभीषण नाम से जानता है; वह विष्णु का भक्त और तत्त्वज्ञान का भंडार है।

The world knows him by the name Vibhishana; he is a devotee of Vishnu and a treasury of spiritual understanding.

जो राजा के पुत्र और सेवक थे, वे अनेक भयंकर राक्षस हुए।

Those who had been the king’s sons and servants became numerous terrible demons.
