वे ही उमापति शिव मुझ पर अनुकूल होकर इस कथा को आनंद और मंगल का मूल बनाएँगे।

That same Shiva, Uma’s lord, will favor me and make this narrative a source of joy and auspiciousness.

पार्वती और शिव का स्मरण करके और उनकी कृपा पाकर मैं हृदय के उत्साह से रामचरित का वर्णन करता हूँ।

Remembering Parvati and Shiva and receiving their grace, I recount Rama’s deeds with eagerness in my heart.

मेरी कविता शिव की कृपा से ऐसी शोभित होती है, मानो चंद्रमा के साथ मिलकर रात सुंदर हो गई हो।

My poetry shines through Shiva’s grace, like a night made lovely by the moon’s company.

जो इस कथा को प्रेम सहित, समझकर और सावधान चित्त से कहेंगे और सुनेंगे—

Those who tell and hear this narrative with love, understanding, and an attentive mind—

वे राम के चरणों में प्रेम करने वाले, कलियुग के मल से रहित और उत्तम मंगल के भागी होंगे।

They will become devoted to Rama’s feet, free from the impurities of Kali’s age, and recipients of great auspiciousness.

यदि स्वप्न में भी या सचमुच मुझ पर शिव और गौरी की कृपा है—

If Shiva and Gauri favor me, even in a dream or in reality—

तो लोकभाषा में रची कविता के प्रभाव के बारे में मैंने जो कुछ कहा है, वह सब सत्य हो।

Then may everything I have said about the efficacy of poetry in the vernacular prove true.
