बालकाण्ड 1.108

और हे कामदेव के शत्रु शिव, आप भी दिन-रात आदरपूर्वक ‘राम, राम’ जपते हैं।

And you too, O Shiva, foe of the god of desire, reverently repeat ‘Rama, Rama’ day and night.

क्या वे राम वही अवध के राजा के पुत्र हैं, या कोई अजन्मा, गुणातीत और अगम्य स्वरूप वाला है?

Is that Rama the very son of the king of Ayodhya, or someone unborn, beyond qualities, and inscrutable in nature?

यदि वे राजा के पुत्र हैं, तो ब्रह्म कैसे हैं? और ब्रह्म हैं तो पत्नी के विरह में उनकी बुद्धि व्याकुल कैसे हुई?

If he is a king’s son, how is he the Absolute? And if he is the Absolute, how was his mind bewildered by separation from his wife?

उनका आचरण देखकर और उनकी महिमा सुनकर मेरी बुद्धि अत्यंत भ्रमित हो जाती है।

Seeing his conduct and hearing of his greatness, my understanding becomes deeply confused.
