शिव ने अपनी सास को अनेक प्रकार से समझाया। वे उनके चरणों में सिर झुकाकर अपने भवन चली गईं।

Shiva reassured his mother-in-law in many ways. Bowing her head at his feet, she returned to her residence.

तब माता ने उमा को बुला लिया और गोद में लेकर अच्छी सीख दी।

Then her mother called Uma to her and, taking her into her lap, gave her good counsel.

सदा शंकर के चरणों की पूजा करना। नारी का धर्म यह है कि पति ही उसका देवता है, दूसरा नहीं।

Always worship Shankara’s feet. A woman’s duty, she says, is to regard her husband as her deity, and no other.

ये वचन कहते हुए माता की आँखें आँसुओं से भर गईं। उन्होंने फिर अपनी बेटी को हृदय से लगा लिया।

As she spoke these words, the mother’s eyes filled with tears. She once again clasped her daughter to her breast.

विधाता ने संसार में नारी को क्यों रचा? पराधीन को सपने में भी सुख नहीं मिलता।

Why did the Creator make woman in this world? One subject to another has no happiness even in dreams.

माता प्रेम से अत्यंत व्याकुल हो गईं; फिर इस अवसर पर व्याकुल होना अनुचित समझकर धीरज धारण किया।

The mother became deeply overwhelmed with love; then, considering this an ill-timed moment for such distress, she steadied herself.
