जिन राम के वियोग में पशु ऐसे व्याकुल हैं, उनकी प्रजा, माता और पिता कैसे जीवित रहेंगे?

If animals are so distressed by separation from Rama, how will his people, mother, and father remain alive?

राम ने सुमंत्र को उनकी इच्छा के विरुद्ध वापस भेज दिया और तब स्वयं गंगा के तट पर आए।

Rama sent Sumantra back against his wishes and then himself came to the bank of the Ganges.

राम ने नाव माँगी, पर केवट उसे नहीं लाया। वह कहता है, ‘मैं तुम्हारा रहस्य जान गया हूँ।’

Rama asked for a boat, but the boatman did not bring it. He says, ‘I have discovered your secret.’

सब कहते हैं कि तुम्हारे चरण-कमलों की धूल कोई मनुष्य बना देने वाली जड़ी है।

Everyone says that the dust of your lotus feet is some herb that turns things into human beings.

उस धूल के छूते ही शिला सुंदर स्त्री बन गई; लकड़ी पत्थर से अधिक कठोर तो नहीं है।

At the touch of that dust, a stone became a beautiful woman; wood is certainly not harder than stone.

नाव भी मुनि की पत्नी बन जाएगी; मेरी नाव हाथ से निकल जाने पर मेरी जीविका चौपट हो जाएगी।

The boat too will become a sage’s wife; with my boat gone, my livelihood will be ruined.
