आप भी पिता के समान मेरे बड़े हितैषी हैं। हे तात, मैं हाथ जोड़कर विनती करता हूँ।

You too are a great well-wisher of mine, like a father. Dear sir, I make this request with folded hands.

आप हर प्रकार से वही करें जिससे पिता हमारे लिए चिंता करके दुख न पाएँ।

In every way, you should do whatever keeps Father from suffering through worry about us.

राम और मंत्री सुमंत्र का संवाद सुनकर निषादराज अपने परिजनों सहित व्याकुल हो गए।

Hearing the conversation between Rama and the minister Sumantra, the Nishada chief became distressed along with his family.

फिर लक्ष्मण ने कुछ कठोर बातें कहीं। प्रभु राम ने उन्हें बहुत अनुचित जानकर लक्ष्मण को रोक दिया।

Then Lakshmana spoke some harsh words. Lord Rama judged them highly improper and stopped him.

संकोच में पड़कर राम ने सुमंत्र को अपनी सौगंध दिलाई कि जाकर लक्ष्मण का संदेश न कहें।

Feeling embarrassed, Rama bound Sumantra by an oath in his own name not to convey Lakshmana’s message on returning.

फिर सुमंत्र ने राजा का संदेश कहा: सीता वन का कष्ट नहीं सह सकेंगी।

Sumantra then conveyed the king’s message: Sita will not be able to endure the hardships of the forest.
