अयोध्याकाण्ड 2.56

हे पुत्र, तुम सभी को अत्यंत प्रिय हो; तुम प्राणों के प्राण और जीव के जीवन हो।

Son, you are supremely dear to everyone—the very life of their vital breath and the life of their souls.

वही तुम कहते हो, ‘माता, मैं वन जाऊँ’; और मैं तुम्हारे वचन सुनकर बैठी पछताती रहूँ।

Yet you, that very beloved son, say, 'Mother, let me go to the forest,' while I sit grieving upon hearing your words.

यह सोचकर मैं मिथ्या मोह बढ़ाकर हठ नहीं करती।

Considering this, I do not insist by indulging misplaced attachment.

माता का नाता मानकर मेरी याद भूल न जाना; मैं तुम पर बलिहारी हूँ।

Honor your bond with your mother and do not forget me; I offer myself to you in love.
