अयोध्याकाण्ड 2.53

बेटा, मैं तुम पर बलिहारी जाऊँ; जल्दी स्नान करो और जो मन को अच्छा लगे, कुछ मीठा खाओ।

My son, I would gladly give myself for you; bathe quickly and eat something sweet that pleases you.

फिर पिता के पास जाना, बेटा। बहुत देर हो गई है; तुम्हारी माँ तुम पर बलिहारी जाए।

Then go to your father, dear son. It has grown very late; your mother would gladly give herself for you.

माता के अत्यंत स्नेहपूर्ण वचन सुनकर—जो मानो स्नेह के कल्पवृक्ष के फूल थे—

Hearing his mother’s deeply affectionate words—as though they were flowers of the wish-fulfilling tree of love—

वे वचन सुख रूपी मकरंद से भरे और समृद्धि के मूल थे; उन्हें देखकर भी राम का मन रूपी भौंरा मोहित होकर नहीं भटका।

Those words were filled with the nectar of happiness and were a source of prosperity; yet, beholding them, the bee of Rama’s mind was not drawn astray.

धर्म का भार सँभालने वाले राम ने धर्म की रीति समझकर माता से अत्यंत कोमल वाणी में कहा।

Rama, the upholder of righteousness, understanding the course of duty, spoke to his mother in very gentle words.

पिता ने मुझे वन का राज्य दिया है, जहाँ सब प्रकार से मेरा बड़ा कार्य सिद्ध होगा।

Father has given me the kingdom of the forest, where my great purpose will be served in every way.
