राम का मुख देखकर और राजा की आज्ञा बताकर सुमंत्र रघुकुल के दीपक राम को साथ लेकर चले।

After looking at Rama’s face and conveying the king’s command, Sumantra set out with Rama, the light of Raghu’s lineage.

राम मंत्री के साथ असामान्य, अशुभ-सी परिस्थिति में जा रहे थे। यह देखकर लोग जहाँ-तहाँ बिलखने लगे।

Rama went with the minister in unsettling, unusual circumstances. Seeing this, people here and there began to lament.

वहाँ जाकर रघुवंश के रत्न राम ने राजा दशरथ को अत्यंत दयनीय दशा में देखा।

Upon arriving, Rama, the jewel of Raghu’s lineage, saw King Dasharatha in an utterly distressed state.

राजा ऐसे सहमे पड़े थे, मानो कोई बूढ़ा गजराज सिंहिनी को देखकर भयभीत होकर गिर पड़ा हो।

The king lay frightened, like an old lord of elephants that had collapsed in terror at the sight of a lioness.
