अयोध्याकाण्ड 2.34

‘मेरा सिर माँग लो, मैं अभी तुम्हें दे दूँ; राम के वियोग से मुझे मत मारो।’

‘Ask for my head; I will give it to you this very moment. Do not kill me through separation from Rama.’

‘किसी भी तरह राम को यहीं रहने दो; नहीं तो मेरी छाती जीवन भर जलती रहेगी।’

‘Let Rama remain here by whatever means possible; otherwise my heart will burn throughout my life.’

इस व्याधि को असाध्य देखकर राजा सिर पीटते हुए धरती पर गिर पड़े।

Seeing this affliction to be incurable, the king fell to the ground, beating his head.

वे अत्यंत व्याकुल होकर ‘राम! राम! रघुनाथ!’ कहते रहे।

In utter anguish, he kept crying, ‘Rama! Rama! Lord of the Raghu lineage!’
