पर उस बुद्धि ने अपने को छोटा और भरत की महिमा को बड़ा जाना; कवि-समुदाय की मर्यादा का ध्यान करके वह संकोच में पड़ गई।

But that mind recognized itself as small and Bharata’s greatness as vast; mindful of the honor of the community of poets, it grew hesitant.

वह बुद्धि भरत के गुण कह नहीं सकती, यद्यपि कहने की इच्छा बहुत है; उसकी दशा बालक के बोलने जैसी है।

That mind cannot express Bharata’s virtues, though its desire to do so is great; its condition resembles a child’s attempt to speak.

भरत का निर्मल यश निर्मल चंद्रमा है, और सुबुद्धि चकोर की बालिका है।

Bharata’s spotless fame is a spotless moon, and the discerning mind is a young female chakora bird.

वह यशरूपी चंद्रमा निर्मल जनों के हृदयरूपी आकाश में उदित हुआ है, और सुबुद्धिरूपी चकोरी उसे एकटक निहार रही है।

That moon of fame has risen in the sky of pure-hearted people’s hearts, and the discerning mind, like a young chakora, gazes steadily at it.
