समूचा रानी-समाज व्याकुल और निढाल होकर देखता रह गया; तब सुमित्रा ने धीरज धरकर कहा।

The entire assembly of queens remained watching, distressed and overwhelmed; then Sumitra composed herself and spoke.

‘हे देवी, रात के दो दंड बीत गए हैं।’ यह सुनकर राम की माता प्रेमपूर्वक उठीं।

‘O lady, two dandas of the night have passed.’ Hearing this, Rama’s mother rose affectionately.

उन्होंने स्नेह और सच्चे भाव से कहा, ‘शीघ्र अपने निवास-स्थान पर पधारिए।’

With affection and sincerity she said, ‘Please return promptly to your lodging.’

हमारे लिए तो अब ईश्वर ही आश्रय हैं, अथवा मिथिला के राजा सहायक हैं।

For us now, God alone is our refuge, or the king of Mithila our helper.
