इस दुःख की जलन से दिन भर छाती जलती है; दिन में भूख नहीं लगती और रात में नींद नहीं आती।

The burning of this grief scorches my heart throughout the day; I have no appetite by day and no sleep at night.

इस भयंकर रोग की कोई औषधि नहीं है; मैंने मन में समस्त संसार खोज लिया है।

There is no remedy for this terrible affliction; in my mind I have searched the whole world.

माता की पापमूलक कुमति मानो बढ़ई बनी; उसने मेरे हित को बसूला बना लिया।

My mother's misguided judgment, rooted in sin, became a carpenter; it made my supposed welfare its adze.

कलह रूपी खराब लकड़ी का उसने कुत्सित यंत्र बनाया और कठोर कुमंत्र पढ़कर वनवास की अवधि रूपी कील गाड़ दी।

It made a sinister device from the bad wood of discord and, reciting a harsh evil spell, drove in the term of exile like a peg.

मेरे लिए उसने यह बुरा प्रपंच रचा और सारे संसार को तितर-बितर कर दिया।

For my sake it contrived this harmful scheme and threw the whole world into disarray.

राम के लौट आने पर ही यह दुर्भाग्य मिटेगा और अयोध्या फिर बसेगी; कोई दूसरा उपाय नहीं है।

Only when Rama returns will this misfortune end and Ayodhya flourish again; there is no other remedy.
