अयोध्याकाण्ड 2.2

लक्ष्मण छोटे, सुंदर और लाड़-प्यार के योग्य हैं। ऐसे भाई न पहले हुए, न अब हैं, न आगे होंगे।

Lakshmana is young, handsome, and worthy of tender care. No such brother has existed before, exists now, or will exist hereafter.

वे नगरवासियों के प्रिय, माता-पिता के दुलारे और सीता तथा राम को प्राणों जैसे प्यारे हैं।

He is beloved by the townspeople, cherished by his parents, and as dear as life to Sita and Rama.

उनका शरीर कोमल और स्वभाव सुकुमार है। हे तात, उनके शरीर को कभी कठोर हवा तक नहीं लगी।

His form is tender and his nature delicate. Dear one, not even a harsh wind has ever touched his body.

वे वन में हर प्रकार की विपत्ति सह रहे हैं; मेरी इस छाती ने करोड़ों वज्रों की कठोरता को भी तुच्छ कर दिया है।

He endures every kind of hardship in the forest; this heart of mine puts the hardness of millions of thunderbolts to shame.

राम ने जन्म लेकर जगत को उज्ज्वल कर दिया; वे सौंदर्य, शील, सुख और सभी गुणों के सागर हैं।

By taking birth, Rama made the world radiant; he is an ocean of beauty, noble character, happiness, and every virtue.

राम का स्वभाव नगरवासियों, परिजनों, गुरु और माता-पिता—सबको सुख देने वाला है।

Rama’s nature brings happiness to everyone—the townspeople, family, teacher, father, and mother.
