व्याकुल भरत और शत्रुघ्न, दोनों भाई विलाप कर रहे हैं। कौसल्या ने उन्हें हृदय से लगा लिया।

Distraught, the two brothers Bharata and Shatrughna lament. Kaushalya draws them to her heart.

कौसल्या ने भरत को अनेक प्रकार से समझाया और विवेकपूर्ण वचन कहकर सुनाए।

Kaushalya consoled Bharata in many ways, speaking words of discernment to him.

भरत ने भी पुराणों और वेदों की सुंदर कथाएँ कहकर सभी माताओं को समझाया।

Bharata too consoled all the mothers by recounting beautiful narratives from the Puranas and the Vedas.

भरत दोनों हाथ जोड़कर छलरहित, पवित्र और सरल सुंदर वाणी में बोले।

Joining both hands, Bharata spoke in gracious words that were sincere, pure, and straightforward.

जो पाप माता, पिता या पुत्र को मारने तथा गायों, गोशालाओं और ब्राह्मणों के घरों को जलाने से लगते हैं—

Whatever sins arise from killing one’s mother, father, or son, or from burning cows, cowsheds, and Brahmins’ homes—

जो पाप स्त्री या बालक का वध करने और मित्र या राजा को विष देने से लगते हैं—

Whatever sins arise from killing a woman or child, or from poisoning a friend or king—
