पिता स्वर्ग में हैं और रघुकुल की ध्वजा राम वन में हैं; इन सभी अनर्थों का कारण केवल मैं हूँ।

Father is in heaven, and Rama, the banner of Raghu's lineage, is in the forest; I alone am the cause of all these calamities.

मुझे धिक्कार है! मैं बाँस के वन की आग बन गया हूँ और असह्य जलन, दुःख तथा दोष का भागी हूँ।

Shame on me! I have become a fire in a bamboo forest, bearing unbearable anguish, sorrow, and blame.

भरत के कोमल वचन बार-बार सुनकर माता कौसल्या अपने को सँभालकर उठीं।

Hearing Bharata's gentle words repeatedly, Mother Kaushalya gathered herself and rose.

उन्होंने भरत को उठाकर हृदय से लगा लिया; उनकी आँखों से आँसू बह रहे थे।

She lifted Bharata and clasped him to her heart, tears flowing from her eyes.
