जब तूने, हे दुर्बुद्धि, अपने हृदय में यह बुरा विचार ठान लिया, तब तेरा हृदय टुकड़े-टुकड़े क्यों न हो गया?

When you, foolish woman, resolved upon this evil thought in your heart, why did your heart not break into pieces?

वर माँगते समय तेरे मन में पीड़ा क्यों न हुई? तेरी जीभ क्यों न गल गई और तेरे मुँह में कीड़ा क्यों न पड़ा?

While asking for the boons, why did you feel no pain in your heart? Why did your tongue not rot away, and why did no worm fall into your mouth?

राजा ने तुझ पर विश्वास कैसे किया? मृत्यु के समय विधाता ने उनकी बुद्धि हर ली थी।

How did the king come to trust you? At the time of death, the Creator had taken away his judgment.

विधाता भी स्त्री के हृदय की गति न जान सके—वह समस्त कपट, पाप और अवगुणों की खान है।

Even the Creator could not fathom a woman's heart—a mine of every deceit, sin, and vice.

राजा सरल, सुशील और धर्म में अनुरक्त थे; वे स्त्री का स्वभाव कैसे जान पाते?

The king was straightforward, virtuous, and devoted to righteousness; how could he understand a woman's nature?

संसार में ऐसा कौन-सा जीव है जिसे रघुनाथ प्राणों के समान प्रिय नहीं हैं?
