घोड़ों को हाँकते हुए भरत पवन के वेग से चले, नदियाँ, पर्वत और दुर्गम वन पार करते हुए।

Bharata traveled at the speed of the wind, urging the horses onward and crossing rivers, mountains, and difficult forests.

हृदय में बड़ी चिंता थी; कुछ भी अच्छा नहीं लगता था। भरत मन में ऐसा सोचते थे कि मैं उड़कर पहुँच जाऊँ।

Great anxiety filled his heart, and nothing pleased him. Bharata thought to himself, “If only I could fly there.”

एक पल वर्ष के समान बीतता था। इस तरह भरत नगर के निकट पहुँचे।

A single instant passed like a year. In this way, Bharata drew near the city.

नगर में प्रवेश करते समय अपशकुन होने लगे; अशुभ स्थानों पर कौए बुरी तरह कर्कश स्वर में बोल रहे थे।

Ill omens appeared as he entered the city; crows cried harshly and ominously from inauspicious places.

गधे और सियार अशुभ स्वर में बोलते थे; उन्हें बार-बार सुनकर भरत के मन में पीड़ा होती थी।

Donkeys and jackals called ominously; hearing them again and again brought anguish to Bharata’s heart.

सरोवर, नदियाँ, वन और बाग शोभाहीन थे; नगर विशेष रूप से भयावना लगा।

The lakes, rivers, forests, and gardens had lost their beauty; the city seemed especially frightening.
