वे क्षण-क्षण शोक से छाती भरकर उसास लेते थे, मानो पंख जल जाने पर संपाती गिर पड़ा हो।

Moment after moment he sighed with his chest full of grief, like Sampati fallen after his wings were burnt.

राम से प्रेम करने वाले राजा ‘राम, राम’ कहते हैं; फिर ‘राम, लक्ष्मण, सीता’ कहते हैं।

The king, devoted to Rama, says “Rama, Rama,” and then “Rama, Lakshmana, Sita.”

राजा को देखकर मंत्री ने ‘आपकी जय हो, आप दीर्घायु हों’ कहकर दंडवत प्रणाम किया।

Seeing the king, the minister said, “Victory to you; may you live long,” and prostrated himself in greeting.

सुनते ही व्याकुल राजा उठे और बोले, ‘सुमंत्र, बताओ, राम कहाँ हैं?’

Hearing this, the distraught king rose and said, “Sumantra, tell me, where is Rama?”
