हा जानकी सीता, गुणों की खान! तुम रूप, शील, व्रत और नियम से पवित्र हो।

Alas, Janaki Sita, treasure of virtues! You are pure in beauty, character, vows, and observances.

लक्ष्मण ने बहुत प्रकार से राम को समझाया। राम लताओं और वृक्षों की पंक्तियों से पूछते हुए आगे चले।

Lakshmana consoled Rama in many ways. Rama went on, asking the creepers and rows of trees about Sita.

हे पक्षियो, हे वन-पशुओ, हे भौरों के समूह, क्या तुमने मृगनयनी सीता को देखा है?

O birds, O forest animals, O swarms of bees, have you seen doe-eyed Sita?

खंजन, तोते, कबूतर, मृग, मछलियाँ, भौरों के समूह और कुशल कोयलें—ये सीता के सौंदर्य के उपमान हैं, जिनकी सूची आगे चलती है।

Wagtails, parrots, doves, deer, fish, swarms of bees, and accomplished cuckoos—the list of comparisons for Sita’s beauty continues.
