अरण्यकाण्ड 3.18

असंख्य भयावह अपशकुन हो रहे थे, पर मृत्यु के वश में पड़े वे सभी उन्हें कुछ नहीं मानते थे।

Countless frightening ill omens occurred, but all of them, in death’s power, paid no heed.

वे गर्जते, धमकाते और आकाश में उड़ते थे। सेना को देखकर योद्धा बहुत प्रसन्न होते थे।

They roared, threatened, and flew through the sky. Seeing the army, the warriors rejoiced greatly.

कोई कहता था, ‘दोनों भाइयों को जीवित पकड़ो! पकड़कर मार डालो और स्त्री को उनसे छुड़ा लो!’

Someone said, ‘Capture both brothers alive! Seize and kill them, and take the woman away from them!’

आकाश-मंडल धूल से भर गया। राम ने अपने छोटे भाई को बुलाकर कहा।

The expanse of the sky filled with dust. Rama called his younger brother and spoke to him.

‘जानकी को लेकर पर्वत की गुफा में जाओ; राक्षसों की भयंकर सेना आ गई है।’

‘Take Janaki to a mountain cave; the fearsome demon army has arrived.’

‘सावधान रहना।’ प्रभु की वाणी सुनकर लक्ष्मण सीता के साथ, हाथ में बाण और धनुष लिए चले।

‘Remain vigilant.’ Hearing his lord’s words, Lakshmana departed with Sita, arrows and bow in hand.
